Presenter instructions

Preparing Your Presentation

Instructions for ISTTT26 podium, poster, and lightning-talk presenters. Please read the information below carefully before preparing your presentation materials for Munich.

Choose your presentation type

Presenter instructions

Please select the presentation format assigned to your paper in the official ISTTT26 program. Each accepted paper will be presented either as a podium presentation or as a poster presentation. Poster presentations include the lightning-talk instructions below.

Please check the official schedule for your final presentation type, session assignment, paper number, date, time, and room before preparing your materials.

Podium speakers

Podium presentation

podium presenters should prepare a clear and focused talk for a broad ISTTT audience. Introduce the research question, explain why it matters, and highlight the main scientific contribution before moving into technical details.

Presentation from the podium Discussion with the audience Arrive 15 minutes early

Timing

Unless otherwise communicated by the session chair or organizing team, each podium paper should be planned as a 20-minute presentation followed by 10 minutes of discussion. Please rehearse your talk carefully and stay within the allocated time.

Recommended preparation

  • Use slides that are readable from the back of the room.
  • Avoid overcrowded slides; emphasize figures, key assumptions, results, and takeaways.
  • Embed all fonts, videos, and special media, and test animations before the session.
  • Bring a backup copy of your presentation on a USB drive and on your own computer.
  • Come to the room at least 15 minutes before the session starts to meet the session chair and test your file.

Presentation-room preparation

The presentation room is expected to provide standard projection equipment. Please be prepared to use the session computer.

Important: Presentation slots cannot be changed or shifted. Following ISTTT tradition, senior authors are encouraged to deliver podium presentations whenever possible.

Mounting Boards and mounting materials will be provided on-site.
Presenter presence At least one author must remain by the poster during the assigned session.

Poster session guidance

  • Mount your poster on the start of the day of your assigned poster session.
  • Use the paper number or poster board number shown in the official program to identify your place.
  • Remain at your poster for the full poster session.
  • Remove your poster immediately after the end of the poster session day.
  • Posters left after the session may be removed by the organizers.

We recommend printing your poster before traveling to Munich. If you plan to print locally, please contact a print shop in advance and allow enough time for production and collection.

Lightning talk for poster presenters

Poster presentations include a short lightning talk before the poster session. Please prepare a concise 2-minute lightning talk using a single slide.

The goal is not to present the full paper. Use the lightning talk to introduce the big picture, the central contribution, and why attendees should continue the discussion at your poster.

Lightning-talk slide

  • Use one slide only.
  • Include the paper title, authors, paper number, and poster number.
  • Focus on one key idea, one figure, or one main result.
  • Do not include dense equations or long paragraphs.
  • Rehearse carefully; lightning talks will be kept strictly on time.
